Biology
John McMurtry
John is currently teaching HL Biology and is the IB Diploma Coordinator at Munich International School. After having earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Hope College and Masters degree in Biology from Northern Illinois University, John has taught in Botswana, USA, Denmark and Germany for the past 26 years. Geoff is Head of Science at the U.W.C. of the Atlantic. He has taught IB Chemistry for 26 years and led over sixty IB workshops for teachers worldwide. Richard Jones holds an M Sc from the University of London, an MA Education from Bath University and a post-graduate certificate in Online Education from USQ, Australia. He is currently Head of ICT at Dulwich College Beijing having worked previously for international schools in New Zealand, Singapore and Portugal. Ian Dorton holds an undergraduate degree from Aston University and a postgraduate certificate from Birmingham University. Gareth Rees
Gareth Rees holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Exeter University and taught previously at De Montfort and Leicester Universities. Birte Næsheim studied French, Norwegian and History at universities in Norway and France. Knut Gundersen
Knut Gundersen is a graduate of Oslo and Bergen Universities (cand.philol with a Master in Nordic Languages and Literature). He has 30 years of class room experience from Norway and the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales and is presently IB Coordinator at Nesbru in Norway. Mette Dagsland studied Norwegian language for two years. She also studied Physical Education at The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo. She has been teaching Norwegian and Physical Education for more than 30 years, the last 20 years at St.Olav Upper Secondary School in Stavanger. Paul Stachowiak
Paul was educated in Philosophy and Theology both in the United States and in Europe receiving the PhD degree from the University of Louvain, Belgium. Similarly, he has held several teaching positions in the United States and in Europe in both national and international schools. He presently serves as the Head of both the IB Philosophy and Theory of Knowledge Departments of the United World College of the Adriatic (Duino, Italy). Chris Hamper
Chris Hamper read Physics at Leeds University and has been teaching ever since. His present position is at the Red Cross Nordic United World College in Norway where he has been since it opened in 1996. During this time he has had a variety of administrative roles but now prefers to concentrate on teaching physics and climbing rocks. Head of Theatre at Atlantic College, Dave also manages the Mousetrap Fund, producing professional productions for the College and local audiences in South Wales. He has taught and directed for 20 years, touring to the Edinburgh Festival [he'll happily bore you with his cuttings]. A graduate of Oxford University, Dave has an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Birmingham University and MA in Theatre and Production from Rose Bruford. Dinos Aristidou is a freelance artist / consultant / workshop leader based in the UK. Formerly head of Performing Arts at Vienna International School, he has worked extensively with the IBO in Diploma Theatre and the Middle Years Programme. A highly experienced IB workshop leader and school consultant, he has been actively involved in curriculum development in both areas. A graduate of Oxford University with a PhD in Philosophy, Richard van de Lagemaat is the founder and director of InThinking. Ric Sims
Richard has what might be called a portfolio career. After studying Mathematics, Philosophy and Music at the universities of Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool in the UK and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland he worked as a conductor and composer alongside a career in International Education.
