Authorization Process for IB Programmes
In January 2011 the IB introduced new procedures for schools which are considering applying for authorization to implement the Diploma Programme. The new procedures have been designed to ensure that schools are better prepared and to streamline the process across the 3 IB Regions.
The new process for Diploma Programme authorization is likely to take longer than in the past. The normal period of candidacy is 2 years, although IBAEM currently permits some schools to apply via an "anticipated candidacy programme". All candidacy phases lead to a "verification visit" by the IB before authorization is granted.
InThinking can advise schools regarding the process, costs, timeline, feasibility and programme choices to be made for authorization. Our consultants are experienced in the management of IB World Schools and in the new application process regarding the authorization of schools to implement the DP. They also serve as highly experienced workshop leaders for Schools seeking authorization, Team leaders for IB visits to schools, and as evaluators of the 5 year self-study and Evaluation required of all IB World Schools.
