Biology
John McMurtry
John is currently teaching HL Biology and is the IB Diploma Coordinator at Munich International School. After having earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Hope College and Masters degree in Biology from Northern Illinois University, John has taught in Botswana, USA, Denmark and Germany for the past 26 years. He has a wide range of examining experience, and 14 years of IB Biology teaching experienc. He has also lead IB Biology Teacher Workshops in Turkey, South Africa, Greece and France.

Richard Scarr
Richard Scarr read Biology at King’s College, London and completed a PGCE at Keele University. He has over 30 years of experience in international education and is presently Deputy Head at Campion School Athens where he combines an administrative role with teaching, including 10 years of IB Biology. He is a moderator of Internal Assessment a team leader for paper3 at Higher Level. Richard has led a number of workshops for IBDP teachers and particularly enjoys tackling the intricacies of IA and examination technique. Roni Hameiri
Roni currently teaches Business and Management and Economics at St. Clare's Oxford. With a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), she has also worked as a university lecturer and independent consultant and has a wide range of examining experience. Paul Clark
Paul taught for most of his career, in the UK and abroad. He has examined for many years and was Chief Examiner for the International Baccalaureate in Business and Management. Paul is an author, blogger and developer of e-learning resources. He also facilitates professional development workshops for teachers, both online and face to face. Geoffrey Neuss
Having taught IB Chemistry for nearly 30 years at the U.W.C. of the Atlantic where he was Head of Science, Geoff is now an Independent Consultant on International Education. He has a wide range of examining experience and is a former IB Deputy Chief Examiner. Geoff was part of the team that wrote the current IB Chemistry syllabus and is the author of Chemistry for the IB Diploma (OUP) and the IB-endorsed Chemistry Course Companion (OUP). He is also a Chief Examiner for the European Baccalaureate and has been Chairman of the Governors of a British Comprehensive School. He has led over 100 IB workshops worldwide.

Economics
Ian Dorton
Ian Dorton holds an undergraduate degree from Aston University and a postgraduate certificate from Birmingham University. He currently teaches Economics at the American International School of Vienna, having previously headed the departments of Economics and Business at both Sevenoaks School in the UK, and the United World College of Singapore. He has been teaching economics for 20 years and has a wide range of experience as an examiner. He has been a member of the last two IB Economics curriculum committees, and has led IB Economics workshops in Europe, Asia, and North America. Jocelyn Blink
Jocelyn Blink holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Economics and Political Studies and a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University in Canada. She currently teaches Economics at the Vienna International School, having previously taught in Nigeria and Canada. She has been teaching IB Economics for 16 years. She has a wide range of examining experience and has been actively involved in curriculum development. Gareth Rees
Gareth Rees holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Exeter University and taught previously at De Montfort and Leicester Universities. Most recently Vice Principal of Atlantic College where he has been IB Co-ordinator for six years and an Economics teacher for twenty, he has a wide range of examining experience. Stephen Holroyd
Stephen Holroyd has been teaching IB HL/SL Economics since 1992 alongside A Level Economics. He is currently Head of Department at Malvern College with over 70 IB Economics students in each of the diploma years. He is very experienced in examining and assessment. Alongside leading both level 1 and level 2 workshops for the IBO he is also an ISI inspector a school governor and has published revision guides for both HL and SL Economics courses.

Neil Allen
Neil Allen has been teaching the IB Diploma since 2006, and has taught the old A1, A2 and B programmes, as well as currently teaching English A: Literature and English A: Language and Literature at The International Schools of Brussels. Neil has recently undertaken Curriculum Leadership development with the PTC and has been heavily involved in the development of assessment practices at ISB. Alongside teaching the IB and leading workshops, Neil is two years into a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management with the University of Bath, and is carrying out a research investigation connecting appraisal systems and student learning.

Debra Williams-Gualandi
A graduate of Columbia University and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, with degrees in English Literature and Sociology of Education, Debra is IB Coordinator and teaches IB English and French at the International School of Florence, in Italy. Debra has led many workshops for IB teachers, has worked on curriculum and assessment development and is an examiner for the English A2 programme.

David McIntyre
David (BA, MA, MEd) has taught the IB Diploma since the 1990s, teaching English in groups 1 and 2, Social and Cultural Anthropology, and TOK. Mark Beverley
After working for 11 years at the United World College of South East Asia as Head of English, Mark now teaches at Sevenoaks School in the UK where he is Middle School Curriculum Manager, teacher of TOK and Head of Literature and Performance. For the IB he works as moderator for Internal Assessment, Paper Editor and OCC Faculty Member for Literature and Performance. David Ripley
After studying English at Cambridge, David taught for 23 years at St Clare’s Oxford. As Head of English,he has covered all levels from university level literature courses to elementary language training. David has a wide range of examining experience. With a comprehensive knowledge of the IBO programme, he has led more than 50 IB English B workshops. Now living near Barcelona with his wife, David is developing a range of innovative language teaching materials centred on ‘learning about language’ (IB English B), and ‘learning through language’ (TELI - Teaching of English as the Language of Instruction).

Katrin Fox
Katrin is currently Deputy Head Upper School at the International School of the Hague and has a wide range of examining experience. She has been a workshop leader for more than 12 years leading DP workshops for the IB and recognized providers. Prior to the Netherlands she was Head of Department at Sevenoaks School in the UK. She contributed to IB DP curriculum development at review meetings at the IB office and contributed to Teacher Support Material. Wayne Shackelford
Wayne Shackelford holds degrees from the University of Virginia and The New York Film Academy. He has spent the last 15 years teaching Spanish language, several science disciplines, and courses in film, digital audio production and multimedia around the world. He began teaching the IB Film course in São Paulo, Brazil under the pilot phase in 2005 and continues today at the International School of Prague, where he also serves as the Upper School I.T. Marc Abrioux
Marc Abrioux has considerable IB experience and has been extensively involved in the curriculum development of the language programmes and currently leads workshops for teachers of French A1 and A2. In addition, Marc has served as senior administrator and as Head of two IB World Schools. A Team Leader for IBDP Authorization Visits, he also leads workshops for Senior Administrators and provides consultancies for schools actively considering the IB. Marc is bilingual (French and English) and has been invited to lead workshops or engaged as a consultant in approximately 15 countries.

Ann Abrioux
Ann Abrioux studied French language and literature at Aberdeen, McMaster and Bordeaux universities. She taught French and English as second languages for many years in Canada and Italy, and she has a wide range of examining experience.Ann is a member of the current Group 1 and 2 curriculum review team and is responsible for the forums on the Online Curriculum Centre for French A2, B, ab initio and other languages B and ab initio. Pascale Chretien
Pascale Chrétien taught French in Canada for 18 years before moving to Freiburg, Germany, where she currently teaches at the university. She has been involved with the IB since 2001, and has co-authored two textbooks for the French B course: Le monde en français (Advance Materials) and French B Skills and Practice (Oxford University Press). John Israel
He studied French at Bristol and Bordeaux Universities. Holding Masters Degrees in Literature, Education and Education Management and a Doctorate in Assessment and Evaluation, he is Head of Languages at a bilingual national school in Istanbul. Tanja Stege
After studying English and Russian language and literature as well as German literature at Würzburg University, Germany, with stays in the United Kingdom and Russia Tanja taught all three subjects at various school in Bavaria before she was introduced to the International Baccalaureate eight years ago. Monika Hammerschick
Monika is Head of German and French at Danube International School Vienna where she has taught IBDP German B SL, HL and Ab Initio for 15 years. She has also taught IBMYP German B and ELS for many years. She holds a Masters Degree in English and Spanish from Salzburg University, Austria and a Masters Degree in German from Bowling Green State University, Ohio. Ute Reichert
Ute is head of the Language B Department at Copenhagen International School where she has taught IBDP German B HL and SL for 14 years. She is also responsible for the DP externally tutored languages B and A2. Keely Rogers
Keely Rogers has a BA/MA Degree in History from Cambridge University, and PGCE from Oxford University. She has taught and led IB History since 1996 at UWCSEA in Singapore, at International School of Brussles and currently at ACS Egham International School. Heather Arnesen
Heather Arnesen is Deputy Headteacher and IBDP Coordinator at St. Olav Upper Secondary School, in Stavanger, Norway. She has held the latter position since 1991. Ibrahim has been head of mathematics at the American International School in Vienna since 1988. He has served as Chief Examiner for Further Math, 1999 – 2005 and Deputy Chief Examiner, Math/HL, 1995-1999, and he has been a member of the Group Curriculum Review for the last three reviews. Jim Noble
Jim Noble is the Head of Mathematics at the International School of Toulouse (IST), where he teaches students from 11 to 18 years old at all levels of Mathematics. Jim has an undergraduate degree from Exeter University, and postgraduate qualifications from Nottingham and Oxford Universities, the latter based on the use of context in Mathematics teaching. Jonathan Newell
Jonathan has taught in the UK, Norway, Cairo and Vienna, and was for five years Deputy Chief Examiner for Diploma Music. He regularly leads teacher-training workshops for the IB, and has taken part in two curriculum reviews. Jonathan works as a visiting examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, and he is a senior examiner for Trinity Guildhall international examinations. Birte Næsheim
Birte Næsheim studied French, Norwegian and History at universities in Norway and France. She has been teaching for more than 30 years, the last 15 years at St.Olav Upper Secondary School in Stavanger, Norway. Mette Dagsland
Mette Dagsland studied Norwegian language for two years. She also studied Physical Education at The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo. She has been teaching Norwegian and Physical Education for more than 30 years, the last 20 years at St.Olav Upper Secondary School in Stavanger. Paul Stachowiak
Paul was educated in Philosophy and Theology both in the United States and in Europe receiving the PhD degree from the University of Louvain, Belgium. Similarly, he has held several teaching positions in the United States and in Europe in both national and international schools, and he has a wide rang of examining experience. He presently serves as the Head of both the IB Philosophy and Theory of Knowledge Departments of the United World College of the Adriatic (Duino, Italy). Chris Hamper
Chris Hamper read Physics at Leeds University and has been teaching ever since. His present position is at the Red Cross Nordic United World College in Norway where he has been since it opened in 1996. During this time he has had a variety of administrative roles but now prefers to concentrate on teaching physics and climbing rocks. Chris has led many workshops for new and experienced teachers in Europe and Africa and is an IA moderator and assistant examiner. Jette Hannibal
With degrees in psychology, French, history from Copenhagen University, Jette has been teaching at Nørre Gymnasium (Denmark) in the Danish curriculum since 1978 and in the IB since 1990. She has a wide range of experience as an examiner and has been actively involved in currriculum development. She is currently also national advisor in Psychology at the Danish Ministry of Education. Håkan Westman
Håkan Westman currently teaches Swedish, German and Journalism at Per Brahegymnasiet in Jönköping, Sweden. Staffan Paulsson has taught Swedish - as well as Philosophy and Religion - in the national Swedish programmes since the 1970s. Currently based in Helsingborg, Sweden he has taught IB Swedish A1 and Theory of Knowledge since the 1990s. Stefan has a wide range of examining experience. He has also taken part in the training of teachers in three subjects and is involved in helping Swedish self taught students around the world.

Theatre
Dave Booker
Head of Theatre at Atlantic College, Dave also manages the Mousetrap Fund, producing professional productions for the College and local audiences in South Wales. He has taught and directed for 20 years, touring to the Edinburgh Festival [he'll happily bore you with his cuttings]. A graduate of Oxford University, Dave has an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Birmingham University and MA in Theatre and Production from Rose Bruford. His research area is early 20th century Soviet theatre but has become increasingly interested in Anne Bogart and SITI. Dave is a board member of St Donats Arts Centre and member of the Arts Council of Wales. He is an examiner for European Union schools and IB examiner in the past. His main distraction lies in the mountains.
Dinos Aristidou
Dinos Aristidou is a freelance artist / consultant / workshop leader based in the UK. Formerly head of Performing Arts at Vienna International School, he has worked extensively with the IBO in Diploma Theatre and the Middle Years Programme. A highly experienced IB workshop leader and school consultant, he has been actively involved in curriculum development in both areas. Dinos writes and directs, and is currently developing models of good arts practice for teachers, arts organisations and local education authorities in the UK as well as working as trainer for the new Diploma. Richard van de Lagemaat
A graduate of Oxford University with a PhD in Philosophy, Richard van de Lagemaat is the founder and director of InThinking. With more than twenty five years experience in international education, he has been actively involved in teacher training and curriculum development since 1988. Richard has run workshops and seminars for teachers and students in fifty countries and is a regular speaker at educational conferences. His book Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma is published by Cambridge University Press and has sold more than 75,000 copies worldwide.

Bill Roberts
Bill graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Engineering and then trained to teach Mathematics. He has a Masters degree in Guidance and Counselling and a PhD which considers the effect of international schooling on the formation of masculinity. He has been involved in education for 23 years and has taught Tok for twelve years in combination with Mathematics, firstly in Cairo, Egypt and most recently in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He has been involved in ToK training and curriculum development since 1999 and currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Assessor. He is also an examiner for Mathematics HL. He currently holds a part-time position at the University of Newcastle in the U.K where he lectures in communication, culture, gender, representations and identities and has a research interest in gender and education.
Ric Sims
Richard has been involved in International education since the late 1980’s and has taught at a number of schools in Europe. He holds degrees from the universities of Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague specializing in Mathematics, Philosophy and Music. He has led more than 70 workshops in ToK over the last 15 years both for the IB and other providers and is in demand as keynote speaker and workshop leader and designer. He has been heavily involved with curriculum development with the IB during this period having served on a number of curriculum review committees and is one of the main architects of the new ToK curriculum. He also has more than two decades of examining experience most of which is at a senior level. Currently he teaches Philosophy, ToK and Economics at Katedralskolan in Uppsala.

David Spooner
David is currently ToK Coordinator at the Amman Baccalaureate School in Amman, Jordan; his previous two positions have been as Diploma Coordinator and ToK teacher in Athens,Greece, and ToK Coordinator and teacher of IB Philosophy in Beirut, Lebanon. Having studied Philosophy in Cardiff, Wales, and Madrid, Spain, he has been an IB teacher for 13 years, in Greece, Finland, and Lebanon, after having taught in the UK and Spain. As well as teaching, he has been an examiner and moderator in ToK and Philosophy since 2001, and is a ToK Workshop Leader for the IB, Inthinking, SEK, IBICUS and Swiss Learning, in both English and Spanish. Birgit Jennings
Birgit graduated from Bristol University in the U.K. and is a teacher at the International School of Geneva, La Châtaigneraie, where she has taught for 32 years and held the position of Head of Art for over 24 years. Birgit has an extensive knowledge of the IB, as a former Deputy and Chief Examiner for Visual Arts (1994 – 2004) she has been involved with two curriculum reviews and has contributed to the writing of the Subject Guides. In addition she has held the position of Chair of the Visual Arts Committee for ECIS and served on ECIS/MSA accreditation teams. Birgit has led over 50 teacher workshops in Europe, Australia, North and South America, central Asia and the Middle East.

Heather McReynolds
Heather has taught IB Diploma Visual Arts for 13 years and was Head of Art at the International School of Florence. She has a wide range of examing experience and has been actively involved in curriculum development. Heather holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art from Central St Martins and degrees from Smith College, USA and the Academmia di Belle Arti di Firenze. She leads workshops for new and experienced Visual Arts teachers. Heather currently lives in London, where she works part time for the IB and as a freelance artist educator and consultant. SueAnn Walentuk
SueAnn is an experienced Visual Arts teacher and examiner with over 20 years of international teaching experience in studio arts. She has a wide range of IB experience and also works as an examiner and table leader for the Advanced Placement Art Portfolios. SueAnn is very interested in the development of visual arts curricula, and she enjoys meeting and sharing ideas with other Visual Arts teachers. She earned her MA in Arts Education and a BFA in Studio Arts from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts in conjunction with Tufts University. Ate Hemmes
Ate Hemmes is MYP Coordinator at Qatar Academy. Ate started his teaching career in the Netherlands as a teacher of art in the late eighties. He attended his first MYP workshop in 2000 and by the time he left the school in 2005 he was Head of Department, Community and Service Coordinator and moderator for Visual Art. His first overseas experience was in Togo, West Africa where he stayed for three years. By that time he extended his list of experience as examiner for DP Visual Art and workshop leader for MYP Arts. In 2008 he moved to Qatar to take up his current position.

Humanities
Kathleen Noreisch
Kathleen completed a BA in Modern European Studies at University College London and an MA in Urban Geography at King’s College London before completing a PhD in Geography, examining the impacts of parental choice of primary school in Berlin, Germany. She then completed a PGCE in Geography at the University of Oxford, before starting to teach at the International School of Berne. She currently teaches MYP Humanities, DP Geography and TOK and acts as Service and Action coordinator, which involves managing community service across the school, in effect implementing the “Action” component of all IB programmes. This year, she is part of the team at her school piloting the new MYP Humanities guide for 2014.
Tobin Bechtel
Tobin Bechtel has worked in international education for 17 years working closely with the IB as a Diploma History, Theory of Knowledge and MYP Humanities Teacher, IB MYP Coordinator, Workshop Leader, School consultant, Authorization and Evaluation Team Leader, Professional and Curriculum Development committees, Online Course Leader, and Examiner. He is currently the Deputy Director / Secondary School Principal at the International School of Berne. Tobin completed his Principal’s certification through Principal’s Training Center and The College of New Jersey where he also completed his M.Ed. Prior to ISBerne, Tobin was Curriculum Development Coordinator at Atlanta International School and MYP Coordinator at the International School of Amsterdam.
Language A
Paul Horkan
Paul has been teaching internationally for ten years, including time in Bangladesh and Jordan. He has experience teaching both the IB MYP and IB DP and has been a Language A curriculum coordinator and CAS coordinator in the past. He is now IB MYP Coordinator at Pechersk School International in Ukraine where he oversees the implementation and development of the program. Paul works with the IB regional team in a number of capacities. He leads workshops for new and experienced practitioners, provides in-school workshops, acts as a consultant to schools prior to authorization and is an authorization visit team leader.
Language B
Katja Kolb
Katja Kolb has a wide range of international experience having taught at schools in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Germany and the Ukraine. She currently works at Copenhagen International School where she teaches German B and Theory of Knowledge. Katja’s area of expertise is Middle Years teaching. She was MYP coordinator and Head of Languages at the Perchersk School International in Kiev, and she has played a key role in building up the Middle Years programme in Copenhagen. An experienced workshop leader, Katja has led workshops for Language B teachers and given school in-service training in English, Russian and German. She has also developed teacher support materials in German.
Helen Forde

Angelika Kuster
Angelika has experience of teaching Language A and B at MYP, and Language B and TOK at DP level. She has led a large Languages Department at the International School of Amsterdam, coordinated the Personal Project and an AOI Leader for ATL. Her involvement in the IB started as a Language B moderator in 2005. Now, she is involved in school visits for authorization and evaluation purposes and consulting schools through the authorization process. Shane Tastad
Shane Tastad is currently living and working in Helsingborg, Sweden. He is the Principal/Coordinator for the Middle Years Programme at the International School of Helsingborg. Before moving to Sweden in 2010, he lived in Trondheim, Norway, for 16 years, and experienced working in two international schools there. Throughout the years he has held classroom teaching responsibilities, as well as leader and administrative positions. His main teaching areas are Humanities and English. One of his focus areas has also been the alignment of national curriculum to the requirements of the MYP. Shane has nearly nine years of experience as an MYP coordinator. He has led several different types of professional development and informational workshops for teachers and parents. He has also begun working as a consultant for schools seeking MYP authorization.
Mathematics
Callum Marshall
Callum Marshall has a wide range of international school experience having taught in schools in Germany, Spain, Malaysia and the Netherlands. He is currently working as a subject area coordinator for mathematics at Tashkent International School in Uzbekistan where he teaches mathematics in both the IBMYP and IBDP programmes, is a member of the school’s MYP steering committee and is responsible for the Personal Project. Callum has been involved in leading a number of MYP workshops at a variety of different levels over the years, has done some independent consultancy work connected with the MYP and was a contributor to the IBO professional development initiative Opening Classroom Doors.
Glen Johnson
Having taught in both paid and volunteer capacities in Asia, Central America and Eastern Europe, Glen Johnson is currently the head of the Mathematics Department at Copenhagen International School where he teaches IBMYP Mathematics and IBMYP Design Technology and also runs a creative problem solving competition for teenagers. Glen has given numerous MYP Mathematics workshops for the IB for new, intermediate and experienced teachers, as well as working as an MYP accreditation/ evaluation team member. He also has a teaching background in Gifted and Talented Education and has a particular interest in learning styles, how the brain learns and how contextualised education enhances learning.
Isabel Dykes
Isabel graduated in Engineering Geology more years ago than she cares to remember. She taught Mathematics in Scotland for 7 years before flying off to Virginia, USA, as a Fulbright exchange teacher. She subsequently taught Mathematics in Belgium, England and Japan before finally landing in the Netherlands, where she has been teaching MYP and DP Mathematics for over 12 years now. As an applied mathematician, Isabel is passionate about the fact that the MYP gives her the freedom to engage her students in how Mathematics relates to the real world. As a teacher in international schools, she is also passionate about the needs of students who are learning in a language other than their mother tongue. She is TESMC-qualified and has been a member of two cross-programme Language and Learning working parties for the IB, helping to mould policy in this area.
Sciences
Rick Armstrong
Rick currently works in the Learning and Innovation Department at the SEK institution in Madrid, with responsibility for the MYP and Diploma programmes in their six schools. He holds a chemistry degree from Canterbury University in New Zealand and a masters degree in education from University of London. More recently he has been involved in post-graduate research in students' learning attributes at University of Bristol. He was fortunate to be part of the shaping of the MYP in its early days, including being part of the first guide writing teams for implementation and sciences. He was MYP coordinator at the International College of Spain, has considerable experience as a MYP workshop leader, in science moderation, and was part of numerous MYP authorization teams and consulting visits. Recently he was coordinator for a new MYP Science text-book series. He is also a Diploma chemistry examiner, and in the past a teacher of his beloved TOK.
Paul Morris
Paul has taught IB Physics, Integrated Sciences and ToK, led busy science departments and was an MYP Coordinator for 8 years, seeing one school through implementation and authorisation and another through the five-year evaluation stage. Paul was on the writing team for the MYP Sciences Guide 2010, edited the MYP Sciences Teacher Support Materials and co-authored MYP Assess and the forthcoming MYP Inquire for IBO publications. He has also worked as a consultant to MYP schools in the UK. Paul holds a BSc (hons) in Physics from University of Manchester, a PGCE and an MA in History of Ideas from Birkbeck, University of London. He is currently researching a part-time PhD in History of Science. He has taught in Manchester, Mexico, Madrid and Paris and is now Head of Upper School at the International School of London, the city where he lives and is a proud father to twin boys.
