One Day Focus Workshops
IBDP Teachers & Administrators - 11, 12, 13 March 2010 - London, United Kingdom
We are pleased to invite Secondary teachers & administrators to the InThinking one day thematic workshops which will take place in London on Thursday 11th, Friday 12th and Saturday 13th March 2009. Each of the one day workshops - which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - is self-contained. You can sign up for one, two, or three workshops.
The Theory of Knowledge course lies at the heart of IB’s educational philosophy and is relevant to all IBDP teachers & administrators (not just TOK teachers). The workshop will begin with a brief overview of the TOK course and then focus on explicit strategies for integrating TOK across the range of subject areas.
The aim of this workshop is to explore a concept of international mindedness that goes beyond the "food, festivals and flags" approach, and to look at some concrete strategies for developing a genuinely international ethos in schools. Among the topics covered will be culture and identity, how to integrate the international dimension into classroom teaching, and how international mindedness can be assessed.
This aim of this intensive one day workshop is to help teachers & administrators prepare their students for the extended essay. The topics covered will include: the aims & objectives of the new programme; how to organise the EE within your school; and the assessment criteria (a marking exercise will be included). The workshop leaders - who have complementary areas of expertise in the languages, humanities, and sciences - will offer specific advice on tackling EEs in groups 1, 3 & 4.
There will be twelve concurrent one day workshops in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English A, French B, Geography, History, Maths Higher, Maths Standard, Maths Studies, Physics, Spanish B. Each workshop will be run by an experienced IB teacher/examiner and will give subject specific advice on how best to prepare students for the IB exams. Among the topics covered will be the following:
